The RDS Search Engine searches for words and phrases exactly as they are entered in the Words and Phrases and Company search fields.

How to Truncate Words

Use the * (asterisk) to manually truncate words to find plurals and variant word entries.

Entering: secur* in the Word and Phrases field will find variants such as secure, securing, secured, securities and security.

Please note: That automatic word-bound phrase truncation occurs when using Command searching using prefixes.

The RDS Business Suite and related modules apply automatic word-bound phrase truncation when searching in phrase parsed fields using a field prefix, also known as Command Searching. This will generally occur when a search is performed using prefix terms.

For example, entering CT=MARKET in the Word or Phrase field will find articles that are indexed to either market share or market size.  This feature is especially useful in the company name field, and when searching specific journals using the JN=prefix where the full and complete names may not be known.
